She passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Joyce Ann Albers was born July 20, 1943, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to George and Eula (Halsey) Humphrey. She grew up and attended school in Meadow Grove, Nebraska. Joyce married Dennis Hausmann on October 26, 1962, in Norfolk, Nebraska and they were blessed with three children: Mitchell, Michele, and Mark.  Later, Joyce married Todd Albers on September 12, 1995, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Joyce had a great love for her family, including her dog Humphrey. Being one of fourteen kids, she had lots of younger siblings to look after while growing up. She enjoyed spending time with her big family through the years and especially loved being with and attending activities for her grandkids.

Joyce worked for Lutheran Hospital for many years. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends; she was an amazing cook! She would make special treats for other residents at the Odd Fellow Rebekah. If someone missed out, they wouldn’t hesitate to knock on Joyce’s door to see if she had more goodies. A couple of her signature recipes loved by family, were her ‘Oh Crap Cake’, ‘Fruit Soup’, and ‘Coffee Can Mint Julip’. Joyce loved to decorate for holidays and celebrate any occasion with family. She enjoyed gambling and was always the lucky winner.

She is survived by her children, Mitchell (Wendy) Hausmann and Michele (Pat) Schaecher; grandchildren, Preston and Peyton Hausmann, Jordan Schaecher, and Gage Dohren; siblings, Walt Humphrey (Linda Hundt), Barb (Mike) Hoover, John (Mary) Humphrey, Larry Humphrey, Kay (Dan) Anderson, Donna (Terry) Bayne, Roger Humphrey, and Norma Humphrey; sister-in-law, Kathy Humphrey; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Todd Albers; son, Mark Hausmann; dog, Humphrey; brothers, Gene and Ed Humphrey; sisters, Linda Humphrey, Evelyn Cessna, and Betty Bowers; brother-in-law, Jerry Bowers; sister-in-law, Nancy Humphrey; and nephew, Nick Humphrey.
