Anitra passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at her home in Norfolk.

Anitra Rae Mann was born June 30, 1958, in Wakefield, Nebraska to Ronald R. and Emma G. (Downing) Mann. Her family moved from Wayne to Pilger and then to Ainsworth through her grade school years. She attended high school at Norfolk Senior High School and graduated in 1977.

Anitra worked for Region Four employment services for many years and then stayed home to help her parents care for her older sister who was stricken with Multiple Sclerosis. Anitra continued to live on the family farm with her parents until their passing.

Anitra moved to a care facility later to meet her ongoing medical needs. She greatly enjoyed her time with friends and caregivers.

Although she had several long-term health issues, Anitra always had a smile and loved to visit with people. Anitra participated in the Special Olympics and earned several medals. She loved living on the farm and caring for the animals. The cats and kittens were her favorite and they loved her too. It was common to find her on the farm with a long train of feline fans following her and competing for her attention. Anitra, however, never claimed to be fond of the pigs.

Anitra spent a large portion of her time volunteering at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk where she was a member. For many years, Anitra taught Sunday School classes for preschoolers. Later she would also volunteer with her mother to make braille Bibles for the church. Anitra always enjoyed going to family gatherings and going on family trips. When she could, she would always be found rocking a baby or playing with the young children. During her quiet times, she enjoyed reading, playing games, completing puzzles and doing word search puzzles.

She is survived by her uncle and aunt, Clarence and Lois Mann of Norfolk; siblings, Sandra Passyka of Hoskins, Bob (Anita) Mann of Adair, IL, and Marta (J.R.) Strong of Norfolk; nephews and nieces, Shane (Linda) Pedersen of Pierce, Nichole Vesley of Lincoln, Jeremy (Kayle) Passyka of Pierce, Jaima (Keith) Flesner of Pierce, Jacob (Katie) Passyka of Hoskins, Trebor (Cara) Mann of Carbondale, Illinois, Dalton Mann of Decatur, Illinois, and Kelsi Mann of Iowa City, Iowa; and numerous cousins and great nephews and nieces.

Anitra was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Tamra Pedersen; and brother-in-law, Jim Passyka.
